Part-Time (2.5 days/week) Compass Wheat Ridge

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Oversee and deliver occupational therapy (OT) services for an IEP caseload of approximately 50 hours (both direct and indirect) monthly and consultation for 504 plans with K-6th grade students at the Wheat Ridge campus of Compass Montessori
  • Facilitate any or all of the following areas that may interfere with a child's educational performance: self-help skills, fine, gross and visual motor skills; sensory processing and visual processing skills; positioning, functional mobility and transitions; functional communication through alternative methods; and using educational tools/toys.
  • Administer and interpret educationally relevant assessments to determine why a problem is occurring and identify possible solutions.
  • Implement all aspects the Individuals with Disabilities Act, (IDEA) in accordance with district, state, and federal policies and procedures
  • Responsible for supervision and follow through of school-based OT services from screening through assessment, identification, IEP and 504 development, and assisting in providing appropriate identification and placement of students with disabilities.
  • Design and deliver instruction in alignment with IEP goals and Section 504 plans, as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Organize and ensure completion of all evaluation reports, IEPs, and Section 504 plans containing OT consultation, direct, or indirect services
  • Complete reviews of all special education IEP and Section 504 documents, ensuring compliance with District procedures, state, and federal laws
  • Work with administration, teachers, and special education teammates at both campuses to facilitate optimal inclusion of all students into regular classes as appropriate
  • Regularly monitor and record student progress toward IEP goals
  • Communicate regularly with families and general education staff about student progress
  • Provide consultation services with school staff and families, as needed
  • Maintain records about IEP/504 service delivery, including documenting in ezEDMed system for reimbursement purposes
  • Informally consult with classrooms regarding OT/motor strategies as part of the general education MTSS process

APPLICANTS MUST HAVE:

  • Desire to work in a K-6th grade Montessori environment
  • Experience as an OT public school setting
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and whole-child views of children and families served
  • Desire to work using a multi-disciplinary team approach
  • Knowledge of the Special Education process and laws
  • Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, and time management skills
  • Familiarity with, and system for, making and recording observations of student behavior, demeanor, and response style during testing
  • Skills for templates and assessment reporting tools to capture student results and describe findings relative to special education eligibility criteria

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold a Special Service Provider License from the Colorado Department of Education or be eligible for a three year Special Service Provider Licensed.
  • Must be certified by the National Certification Board of Occupational Therapists (NCBOT) and Department of Regulatory Agency (DORA) prior to hire

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Normal routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking, and may also involve above-average levels of activity at times that can not always be anticipated.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment, such as large test kits, up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to meet physical needs of students.

PAY

$35,000-$75,000 annual rate, pro-rated for 50% FTE; Salary based upon experience and credentials; Eligible for Para contributions

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Teacher work calendar. Part-time; schedule developed in partnership with special education teammates and administration
